Dear Customers, Northwest Indiana is in the path of a series of weather events beginning Friday morning and extending through the beginning of next week. As such, we recommend the following: A wintery mix can cause ice to accumulate on roads, driveways, and sidewalks. We recommend salting frequently; however, please use caution when driving or walking. Extreme cold temperatures are also predicted for Sunday through Tuesday of next week. It's recommended to run a trickle of water through the faucet if you have any water pipes on an exterior wall. Water moving within the pipes will help prevent freezing. If you have a sink against an outside wall, we also recommend keeping cabinet doors open and pipes exposed to the heat from your unit. Keep interior doors open when possible to allow for airflow. Keep your unit heated to a minimum of 68° to help the temperature within your walls. If you have a programmable thermostat, it is recommended that you select “hold” to maintain the temperature throughout the extreme cold event. Familiarize yourself with water shut-off points within your home if a pipe breaks. Ensure you have a kit handy in the event of a power outage. Stock up on batteries and keep your cell phone charged. Stay safe.
